The problem
The work exists, but the shared picture does not.
Decisions, evidence, and follow-through remain distributed across people, messages, documents, and memory.
03 / System
Reusable relationships between claim, context, proof, and action. Patterns shape an argument without forcing every artifact into the same sequence.
03.1 / Catalog
Use the least complex composition that preserves the meaning. A clean statement beats a diagram when topology is not the point.
One title and one governing sentence. No throat-clearing, chip row, or competing metadata.
An asymmetric 5/7 or 3/9 composition: editorial meaning on one side, the evidence structure on the other.
Compact, ruled problem and thesis statements establish the frame before the main evidence or film.
A dark field makes a process, operating model, boundary, or accountability relationship concrete.
Indexed rows separate facts, options, risks, gates, or next moves without turning the page into a dashboard.
A restrained linear sequence shows how one completed unit becomes reusable institutional memory.
A decisive statement resolves the argument at the level of meaning. No logo sting, generic CTA, or empty flourish.
03.2 / Opening argument
The opening pattern uses quiet labels, strong assertions, and just enough prose to establish why the artifact exists.
The problem
Decisions, evidence, and follow-through remain distributed across people, messages, documents, and memory.
The thesis
Structure the answer, proof, accountability, and next move as one coherent system rather than a collection of outputs.
Use when
The reader needs a compact explanation of what is broken and what becomes possible.
Do not add
The mast already named the answer. The opening argument should deepen it, not restart.
Mobile rule
Preserve type size and reading order; do not squeeze the marginal column.
03.3 / Claim + proof
Use a vertical rule to distinguish the editorial claim from the semantic visual. Both share the same top and bottom ledgers when the composition is temporal.
A claim should tell the reader what the visual will prove.
The visual has one source-grounded communication job.
The eye knows where to begin and where to finish.
Animation is optional to comprehension.
The system field is reserved for an operating relationship with real stages, owners, or boundaries. It is not simply a dark section.
One meaningful signal enters once.
Relevant state travels with it.
Judgment remains accountable.
Timing and escalation stay attached.
Action becomes governed memory.
03.4 / Boundaries
A briefing, a microsite, and a film may share paint and grammar while requiring different information architecture and interaction.
Portable
These are system-level choices. They can appear anywhere their communication job exists.
Product-specific
These belong to the briefing product. Do not import them into a general site because they happen to look good.
Design-system reference requires an index; recipient briefing packets remain linear and navigation-free.
Temporal context and progress matter in video; a static page should not imitate them.
A black background is earned by a system, threshold, or synthesis—not by visual appetite.
